Darren Hack believes in the value of lifelong learning.
He’s been taking courses through Western Continuing Studies since 2003, having completed certificates in Advanced Project Management and Agile Project Management as well as professional certificates in Leadership, Management, and Project Management.
Today Hack is working towards his Advanced Professional Certificate in Leadership and his Professional Certificate in Business Analysis, both through WCS.
Hack has combined his studies with a 29-year career with the City of London. He currently serves as Manager of Financial Systems, overseeing a team of 16. “Learning keeps me engaged,” he says. “And you can always take away something that can be applied at work.”
Hack first signed up for WCS shortly after starting a new role as a project manager with the City of London in 2002. “My manager had taken the course and highly recommended it,” he recalls. “At that point I had significant experience working on large projects, but WCS pulled everything together for me. I enjoyed it and kept going.”
Action-learning prioritizes communication, creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The goal is to put what you’ve learned into practice, and then to examine and learn from the results.
